IV Therapy in McKinney, TX
Dehydration is remarkably easy to underestimate, particularly through a North Texas summer. Our McKinney patients most often come in after a stretch of poor sleep, hard training or a weekend that went longer than planned — and the difference an hour makes tends to surprise them.
The Spa by RescueMD is a physician-supervised medical spa in Allen, about 12 to 15 minutes from McKinney, under the medical direction of Dr. Olubukola Okoro, MD. We are not located in McKinney — we are a short drive away, and a good number of our patients make that drive precisely because of the supervision.

Why IV Rather Than Drinking Fluids
Oral hydration works, but slowly, and only as well as your gut absorbs it. An IV delivers fluids, electrolytes and vitamins directly into your bloodstream at full concentration, which is why the effect is both faster and more complete. Most people notice a difference before the drip has finished.
Who Comes In for IV Therapy
People recovering from hard training, or from a heavy weekend. Travellers dealing with dehydration and jet lag. Anyone run down by a demanding stretch of work or poor sleep. And patients pairing a Beauty Glow drip with an aesthetic treatment plan.
What to Expect
Eat something and drink some water beforehand — arriving completely dry makes the vein harder to access. We review your health history, medications and allergies first. A small catheter is placed, usually in the arm, and you sit comfortably for about 45 minutes. There is no downtime afterwards.
Who Should Not Have IV Therapy
IV therapy is not appropriate for everyone. If you have kidney disease, heart failure, or any condition affecting how your body manages fluid, it can be genuinely unsafe and we will not treat you without clearance from your physician. The same applies during pregnancy or with a history of reactions to vitamin infusions. A clinic that does not ask these questions is a clinic to avoid.
Administered by a Nurse Practitioner
Your drip is administered by Kimberly Schmidt, NP, a board-certified nurse practitioner, under the medical direction of Dr. Olubukola Okoro, MD, in a clinical setting with proper sterile technique and a medical history on file. Learn more about our medical team and practice on our About Us page. IV therapy has become widely available in settings with very uneven standards — where you have it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does an IV session take?
About 45 minutes for a standard hydration drip. Allow extra time on your first visit for the health review.
Does an IV drip hurt?
You will feel a brief pinch when the catheter is placed, similar to having blood drawn. After that most people feel nothing.
How soon will I feel a difference?
Many people notice a difference before the drip finishes, and most within a few hours. How much you feel depends on how depleted you were to begin with.
What is in the drips?
Standard drips contain fluids, electrolytes and essential vitamins and minerals. Specialty drips are formulated for a particular goal. Your nurse practitioner will go through the exact contents with you.
Is IV therapy safe?
For most healthy adults, yes, when administered by a qualified clinician after a health review. It is not appropriate for people with kidney disease, heart failure or certain other conditions, which is why we screen first.
How often can I have IV therapy?
It varies by person and goal. Some come occasionally when run down; others monthly, which is what the VIP membership is designed for. We will give you an honest recommendation rather than a subscription pitch.
Who administers the IV?
A board-certified nurse practitioner, under the medical direction of Dr. Olubukola Okoro, MD.
How far is your med spa from McKinney?
We are in Allen, about 12 to 15 minutes from most of McKinney — a short run south on US-75 to 945 Stockton Dr., Suite 6140. For much of McKinney we are the closest physician-supervised med spa.
Do you have a location in McKinney?
No. We have one location, in Allen at 945 Stockton Dr., Suite 6140, serving McKinney, Frisco, Plano and North Dallas. A single site is how we keep the same team and the same physician oversight on every treatment.
Is it worth driving from McKinney rather than going somewhere closer?
That is your call, but the question worth asking of any clinic is who supervises the treatment and what device they use. Those two answers matter more to your result than a few minutes of driving.
